Pharmacology and effect mechanism
Hydrocortisone Acetate ointment is a topical corticosteroid from group 7 of topical corticosteroids (weak topical corticosteroids) that exerts its effects by binding to the cytosolic glucocorticoid receptor. The anti-inflammatory effects of corticosteroids are thought to involve lipocortins and phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins, which control the biosynthesis of prostaglandins and leukotrienes through inhibition of arachidonic acid.
