Marigold® ointment contains Calendula officinalis extract. These flowers are rich in flavonoids and carotenoids such as lycopene, beta-carotene, lutein, and flavoxanthin, which have several effects, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. These substances exert their antioxidant properties by eliminating reactive mediators and free radicals and multiply the antioxidant effects by helping to strengthen glutathione’s cellular reserves. Also, the healing properties of Marigold® are especially dependent on its carotenoid, triterpenoid, and saponin components.
