Pharmacology and effect mechanism
- Triamcinolone is a corticosteroid that helps reduce redness, swelling, and itching of the skin. It inhibits phospholipase A2 on cell membranes and prevents the breakdown of leukocyte lysosomal membranes, which in turn inhibits the formation of arachidonic acid. This reduces the expression of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase and inhibits the synthesis of leukotrienes and prostaglandins. Its anti-inflammatory activity is achieved by reversing vasodilation and reducing permeability, thereby preventing the migration of macrophages and leukocytes.
- Nystatin is an antifungal agent that slows or stops the growth of fungi and yeasts. It exerts its therapeutic effects by forming pores in the fungal plasma membrane. This pore formation alters the membrane’s permeability, allowing the leakage of intracellular contents and disrupting the electrochemical gradients necessary for proper cell function.
- Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that binds to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, inhibiting the initiation of protein synthesis and resulting in the production of non-functional proteins.
